Entry Description Non-Traditional Student College Fair
The Madison County Education Coalition has set June 12 as the date for a Non-Traditional Student College Fair. The event will be from 3 to 7 p.m. at Mounds Mall.
A non-traditional student is described as someone who didn’t start college immediately upon finishing high school but wants to start after sitting out of school for a period of time. This event will also assist those people who have started a two-year or four-year degree but did not complete it.
Represented at the College Fair will be Anderson University School of Adult Learning, Ball State University, Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana Wesleyan University, Purdue University College of Technology-Anderson and Western Governors University (WGU). Admission officers as well as financial-aid advisers will be on-site as well. In addition to the university representatives, personnel from the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana will be present to talk about how their office can help the affordability of returning to school.
For anyone who already hold a bachelor’s degree and is interested in finding out how to enter the field of education, representatives from the Woodrow Wilson Foundation will be available to answer questions.
Approximately, 25 percent of Madison County residents hold an associate or high college degree. This ranks 42nd in the state of Indiana. For each 1 percent that this rate increases, the average household income rises by $732, according to the coalition. Four of the five counties surrounding Madison County currently has higher college completion rates.
To register for the Madison County Non-Traditional Student College Fair, go to http://ntscfofmadisoncounty.eventbrite.com/. Participants are requested to bring a high school transcript, any college transcript they may have and a current résumé; however, these things are not required. |
