Entry Description On this day in Indiana History, 1942, Bunker Hill Naval Air Station opened. It served as a training base for naval pilots; on May 12, 1968, the named was changed to Grissom, after Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom of Mitchell, Indiana, and one of the first U. S. astronauts. |
