Entry Description
State Sen. Brandt Hershman (R-Buck Creek) made the following statement today, congratulating the City of Delphi for being named a “Stellar Community” by Lt. Gov. Skillman:
STATEHOUSE (May 10, 2012) – “Delphi and Carroll County community members should be very proud of this achievement. Area leaders, employers, workers and residents have already laid the foundation for success in revitalizing this historic Hoosier city, and now they’ll get to see this huge undertaking come to fruition.
“It’s my hope the financial backing Delphi will receive over the next three years will create a snowball effect that continues not only to give current businesses a boost but to attract new employers and new jobs to the area. I’m pleased to have written a letter in support of their application.”
Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman announced Delphi as one of two “Stellar Communities” today. Delphi was selected along with Princeton out of 40 applicants for 2012. Hershman wrote a letter of recommendation for Delphi in April of this year. By earning the “Stellar Community” title, Delphi will receive a mix of state and federal funds to revitalize the downtown business district, redevelop downtown neighborhoods, create new walkways to increase tourism and restore the Delphi Opera House.
