Entry Description
Bringhurst- Today at approximately 9:00 a.m. a helicopter dusting a wheat field in Carroll County crashed into the field totaling the aircraft.
Preliminary investigation by Master Trooper Bill Brooks has revealed that a Bell Jet Ranger 206 helicopter with Brian Townsend from Monticello, IN at the controls when for an unknown reason it crashed into a wheat field. Townsend was crop dusting the wheat field south of County Road 400 south about one mile west of State Road 75 near Bringhurst, IN. when the crash occurred. He walked away from the crash and was taken by his father; John Townsend to IU White Memorial Hospital in Monticello, IN with cuts and bruises. Townsend was later released. The field is owned by Gary Eller from Kokomo, IN.
The National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) representatives both out of Indianapolis, IN were notified and were on scene.
