Entry Description
Anderson – How many times have you heard someone say, “I wish a policeman was here to see this?” Today around 10:30 a.m. Pendleton Trooper Chris Noone was patrolling the area of Martin Luther King Drive (MLK) and I-69 in Anderson when he saw a blue Buick LeSabre turn from northbound I-69 exit 22 onto northbound MLK.
The car began its turn in one lane, but in the middle of the turn swerved into a second turn lane, cutting off a car and nearly causing a collision. Trooper Noone stopped the vehicle. A BMV check of the driver revealed the driver was a Habitual Traffic Violator, Suspended for Life, Class “C” Felony.
The suspended driver, Takia L Gardener, age 30 of Pendleton, was lodged in the Madison County Jail with a $10,000 bond. In Indiana the BMV can rule a person a Habitual Traffic Violator for accumulating 10 traffic violations in ten years, or a combination of more serious traffic violations in ten years.
The Indiana State Police remains committed to reducing crashes, educating the public on the main causes of crashes and patrolling high crash areas. We continue to monitor the top causes for crashes around the state and concentrating enforcement efforts on these causes.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. |
