Entry Description
Daleville – This morning about 8:46 a.m. Troopers Dave Ellis and John Clawson were patrolling on SR 67 and County Road 600 West, a high crash roadway, when they clocked a silver 2002 Pontiac exceeding the 55 mph zone. They turned on the vehicle and got it stopped.
After speaking with the driver, Datron Hammond, 30, of Muncie, the officers became suspicious. A BMV license check revealed Hammond was driving while suspended with a prior conviction. A search was conducted which turned up pills for which Hamilton had no prescription, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Hammond was charged with Possession of a Legend Drug, Class “D” Felony; Possession of Marijuana with a Previous Conviction, Class “D” Felony ;Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class “A” Misdemeanor and Driving While Suspended with a Prior Conviction, Class “A” Misdemeanor. He was lodged in the Delaware County Jail.
Troopers Ellis and Clawson were assisted at the scene by Daleville Police Chief James King. Anyone with information about illegal drug use may call the Pendleton Post at 1-800-527-4752, or the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Tips can be made and kept anonymous.
