Entry Description
Pike County – Early Sunday morning, February 26, at approximately 3:25 a.m., Senior Trooper Bill Gadberry was off-duty and inside his residence when he heard a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on S.R. 257 south of S.R. 56. Gadberry, who estimated the vehicle to be traveling in excess of 100 mph, immediately jumped into his fully marked state police car and proceeded southbound in attempt to locate the vehicle. Several minutes later, Gadberry stopped the Ford Mustang at S.R. 257 and C.R. 900 East in Velpen. The driver was identified as Richard Sabelhaus, 23, of Winslow. Further investigation revealed he had a blood alcohol content over the legal limit. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to the Pike County Jail.
