[ISP] One Killed in Early Evening Crash

Entry Description

Jefferson County: Yesterday evening a two vehicle crash on U.S. 421 left one dead.  According to Trooper Matt Holley, at approximately 6:16 p.m. a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck driven by 70 year old William J. Whitaker of Plainfield, IN was northbound on U.S. 421 north of CR 733N when for unknown reasons drove left of center and struck a 1992 GMC commercial flatbed straight truck driven by 74 year old Lonnie J. Hudson of Liberty, KY head on.  Whitaker was transported by King’s Daughters EMS ambulance to King’s Daughters Hospital in Madison where he was pronounced dead of multiple injuries.  Hudson suffered only minor bruising and was not transported for treatment.  The crash left U.S. 421 closed for approximately three hours. 

The crash remains under investigation.  Tpr. Holley was assisted in the investigation by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies and Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
