Clark County-This past Friday evening, Trooper Mark LaMaster stopped a GMC Yukon for a traffic violation on Interstate 65 South near Sellersburg. During the traffic stop Trooper LaMaster called on Trooper Nathan Abbott and Kilo, K-9, for a sniff around the vehicle. Kilo alerted on the vehicle as a signal for contraband present. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a handgun hidden inside.

Carlos Murray, 38, from Crown Point, IN, and his passenger, Michael Williams, 43, from Indianapolis, IN, were both arrested and incarcerated in the Clark County Jail.

Charges on the arrested:
Driver- Carlos Murray, Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm, B Felony; Possession of a Firearm with a Previous Conviction, C Felony and Possession of a Handgun without a License, A Misdemeanor.

Passenger-Michael Williams, Possession of a Firearm with a Previous Conviction, C Felony and Possession of a Handgun without a License, A Misdemeanor.

Other troopers assisting at the scene: Master Trooper Mary Sanchez and Senior Trooper Josh Banet.

All subjects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
