End Date: 2/15/2012
Entry Description

Clay County-This morning at 8:54 AM, Indiana State Police Troopers responded to a semi tractor-trailer rollover on Interstate 70 eastbound near the 24 mile marker.

Preliminary investigation revealed a black 2000 Freightliner tractor pulling a flat bed trailer loaded with PVC plastic pipe was eastbound on I-70 and traveled off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then overturned onto the driver’s side. The load originated in Columbia, Missouri and was bound for Middleton, Delaware. The owner of the tractor-trailer was Prime Incorporated of Springfield, Missouri.

The driver, Charles Gregg, age 60, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee allegedly smelled of alcohol and was transported to the Clay County Jail where he tested over the Indiana state law limit of .08%. Gregg was incarcerated for Operating While Intoxicated, Class A Misdemeanor, with unknown bond. Gregg was also cited for Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations pertaining to alcohol use. There were no log book violations. Gregg was not injured.

Indiana State Police Master Trooper Matt Ames conducted the crash investigation and the arrest of Charles Gregg. Ames was assisted by ISP Sergeant Chris Wright and ISP Trooper Bill Bradbury, the Indiana Department of Transportation and Peffley and Hinshaw Wrecker Service.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
