Ripley County: Monday afternoon another stop for a traffic violation led to an arrest.  Monday, January 30 at approximately 2:30 Trooper Jimmy Wells stopped 26 year old Adam J. Jones of Holton, IN driving a Pontiac on S.R. 46 in Batesville for a minor traffic violation.  During the course of the traffic stop Tpr. Wells saw items within the vehicle consistent with drug use.  During a search of the vehicle Tpr. Wells found a handgun.  Tpr. Wells also searched Jones’ person and located a hypodermic needle and a small amount of heroin.  Jones was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ripley County Jail on charges of Possession of a Narcotic Drug while in Possession of a Firearm (Class C Felony), Possession of a Hypodermic Needle (Class D  Felony), and Possession of a Handgun without a Permit (Class A Misdemeanor).

Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
