Montgomery County-Indiana State Police Trooper Ryan Royer responded to a single vehicle roll-over yesterday, afternoon, that resulted in the driver having to be airlifted from a nearby hospital.

Preliminary investigation revealed that approximately 3:30 pm, yesterday, Monday, January 30th, 2012, a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Brandon R. Ratcliff, 17 of Crawfordsville, was eastbound on Country Club Road when he lost control of his vehicle when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve (the nearest cross street would be Rock River Ridge Road).

The Chevrolet went off the roadway into a ditch causing the vehicle to roll over.  Ratcliff (who was wearing a seat belt) head was pinned between the ground and the car.  The Cavalier had to be lifted up to remove Ratcliff from the crash.  Ratcliff was taken to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Crawfordsville where he was airlifted to Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.  Ratcliff sustained a critical head injury but is expected to survive.

Ratcliff’s front passenger, Tyler A. McRoberts, 16 of Crawfordsville and rear seat passenger, Amber R. Kader, 14 of Crawfordsville, were taken to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Crawfordsville for their injuries.  McRoberts had a possible broken wrist and arm injury and Kader had arm lacerations and complaint of pain to her back.
