INDOT Awards Contract for
Alexandria Street Project

ALEXANDRIA, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has awarded a contract to reconstruct a segment of Washington Street in Alexandria.

INDOT selected E & B Paving, Inc. to fully reconstruct Washington Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Indiana Avenue (Madison County Road 100 West) based on its low bid of $2,035,000.  The Anderson, Indiana company submitted the lowest of three bids.

INDOT provides program administration for Local Public Agency (LPA) sponsored projects, which alleviates additional financial burdens for local communities and provides a means for all communities to participate in federal-aid funding.  Alexandria is sponsoring the Washington Street project, which is funded by the Federal Highway Administration and a percentage match from Alexandria.

A construction schedule will be established at a later date.  The contract completion date for the project is in July 2013.
