Entry Description
Starke County-Earlier this evening, William F. Blankenship III, 22, surrendered to two Indiana State Police Troopers from the Lowell Post.
At approximately, 10:00 pm, Master Trooper Kevin Murphy (assigned to the U.S. Marshall Task Force) and Senior Trooper Jerry Michalak (assigned to the FBI Task Force) met Blankenship at his family residence in Knox where he voluntarily surrendered himself. Cooperation from members of Blankenship’s family made this peaceful surrender possible.
Blankenship was taken and incarcerated at the Porter County Jail.
Blankenship was wanted for stealing a Kouts police car after being arrested Tuesday, January 10, 2012 by one of their officers on drug charges. The police car and its contents were later recovered on Wednesday, January 11 in LaPorte County. Blankenship avoided apprehension until turning himself into the Indiana State Police today.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. |
