[INDOT] Concrete Repairs Rescheduled for I-70 in Wayne County
Start Date: 1/4/2012
End Date: 1/4/2012
Entry Description

Concrete Repairs Rescheduled
for I-70 in Wayne County

RICHMOND, Ind. – The concrete repairs scheduled for Tuesday, January 2 at two locations on Interstate 70 in Wayne County have been rescheduled by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).

INDOT will restrict the eastbound right lane of I-70 at the 149 mile marker, as well as both eastbound loop ramps, beginning the morning of Friday, January 6.  The ramp from eastbound I-70 to northbound US 35 (exit 149B) and the southbound US 35 entrance ramp to eastbound I-70 will be closed.  The ramp closures are necessary for the safety of workers and drivers because of the proximity of the ramps to the work zone.  The restrictions will be lifted as soon as the new concrete can properly cure, which is expected to be sometime early Saturday based on weather and temperature forecasts.

Access to eastbound I-70 and US 35/Williamsburg Pike will be available from the other two ramps (see attached image).  INDOT does not expect to require closure of the ramp from eastbound I-70 to southbound Williamsburg Pike or the ramp from northbound Williamsburg Pike to eastbound I-70.

The eastbound right lane will also be restricted for concrete repairs at the 139.5 mile marker, near the Jacksonburg Road overpass, just east of State Road 1 (exit 137 to Cambridge City).  This restriction will begin the morning of Monday, January 9 and will be lifted as soon as the new concrete can properly cure, which is expected to be sometime early Tuesday, depending on weather and temperatures.

Both areas will have a very short-term restriction early Thursday, January 5 as crews set work zone signs and then saw cut the concrete to be replaced.  The damaged concrete will not be repaired if inclement weather should arise, and both areas will be completed as soon as possible if the repairs are delayed.

INDOT reminds drivers to be cautious and observe posted speed limits while driving through all work zones.  Safe driving tips, information about work zone restrictions and roadway conditions, as well as the latest INDOT news can be found at www.indot.in.gov.
