Entry Description LOGANSPORT, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has awarded a Major Moves contract to build a new bridge as part of the State Road 25 Hoosier Heartland Corridor project.
Primco Inc. of Fort Wayne was awarded the $2,180,347 contract to construct a bridge to carry the new alignment of State Road 25 over Kokomo Pike. Contracts for other work in the Logansport area are scheduled for bidding in October, March 2012 and July 2012.
The Hoosier Heartland project is divided into four segments between Lafayette and Logansport. Along the corridor, INDOT’s team and design consultants are in varying stages of design and construction.
Ground was broken for the $450 million Major Moves project in October of 2008. Work was accelerated to be completed by the end of 2013. The new State Road 25 will be a 31-mile, four-lane, limited access divided highway. The Hoosier Heartland corridor will provide safer access from Lafayette to Fort Wayne, where it will link to the U.S. 24 segment known as the Fort-to-Port corridor.
More information about the Hoosier Heartland Corridor project, one of the largest in the Major Moves construction program, can be found on INDOT’s website at http://www.in.gov/indot/div/projects/sr25study/.
