FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(STATEHOUSE) — State Senate President Pro Tempore Robert D. Garton (R-Columbus) has chosen State Senator Brandt Hershman (R-Wheatfield) to serve as chairman of the Regulatory Affairs Subcommittee. The position was vacated when form Senator Greg Server (R-Evansville) resigned to become a commissioner of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
Regulatory Affairs is a subcommittee of the Senate Homeland Security, Utilities and Public Policy Committee.
“Senator Hershman is deliberative and has an excellent grasp on public policy,” Garton said. “He served this committee admirably, and I'm sure the transition will be a smooth one.”
Homeland Security, Utilities and Public Policy, which was created as a result of committee consolidation after the 2004 elections, has two subcommittees. In the 2005 session of the General Assembly, Hershman served on the Public Safety Subcommittee.
The committee deals with issues ranging from the newly created Indiana Department of Homeland Security to utility regulation to traffic safety issues.
Hershman serves district 7, which includes Carroll, Clinton , Howard, Jasper, Tippecanoe and White counties.
