COMMISSION TO VISIT CHESTERTON
Northwest Indiana Transportation Study Commission to Hear Bridge Report
(STATEHOUSE)- An update on bridge safety will highlight Thursday’s meeting of the Northwest Indiana Transportation Study Commission, scheduled inChesterton.
Commission members, including Ed Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso), will hold a public meeting on Thursday, August 23 at the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District’s Dune Park Station in Chesterton. Charbonneau encourages the public to attend the 10 a.m. meeting, located at 33 East U.S. Highway 12.
“As a committee member, I am responsible for examining the transportation infrastructure and economic needs of the state. The public, more than anyone, can provide information that can improve economic development,” Charbonneau said.
The Northwest Indiana Transportation Study Commission is charged with studying northwest Indiana transportation, infrastructure and economic development issues. At Thursday’s public meeting, a representative from the Indiana Department of Transportation will give an Indiana bridge sufficiency presentation that will include information regarding bridges in Northwest Indiana. The commission will also listen to presentations from the:
- Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District;
- Northwest Indiana Regional Developmental Authority;
- Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission; and
- Michiana Area Council of Government.
Sen. Charbonneau represents Senate District 5, which includes Starke County and portions of Porter, LaPorte, Marshall, Jasper, Pulaski, and St. Joseph counties.
