Sen. Charbonneau: State to
invest $19 million in new trails
Starke County project receives funding
(STATEHOUSE) – Outdoor enthusiasts in Starke County will have more opportunities to enjoy nature thanks to a $19 million investment in trails announced by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), Sen. Ed Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso) said.
According to Charbonneau, the North Judson to Monterey Trail is on the list of projects the IDNR has approved for funding.
“While parks and recreation can have a positive impact on state and local economies, investing in outdoor recreational opportunities can also help improve our physical, mental and social health,” Charbonneau said.
A $450,000 grant will be used to develop 3.32 miles of trails, including 2.77 miles of a multi-use trail on a corridor from Main Street to North Judson. In addition, a .55 mile trail near Monterey from Pulaski County will be developed.
