Jackman Honors Hoosier Hero
Senator authors resolution recognizing his former intern, a Purple Heart recipient in Iraq
STATEHOUSE—State Sen. Bob Jackman (R-Milroy) presented a resolution before the Senate today to honor his former intern, Lance Cpl. Greg Porter, for his service to our state and nation.
Senate Concurrent Resolution 35 honored Porter’s service. Porter served as a legislative intern for Jackman and former Senator Joe Harrison (R-Attica) during the 2006 legislative session. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve during college, proceeded to extensive training in California and has been serving in Iraq since September of 2006. Porter was shot and injured during his service in Iraq.
“Greg is a bright young man with a bright future,” Jackman said. “I’m just thankful he is back home safely. I thought we should thank him for his service and his sacrifice for our country.”
Before presenting the resolution on the floor of the Senate, Porter and Jackman visited with Governor Mitch Daniels in his office.
Jackman represents Senate District 42, which includes Decatur, Fayette, Rush and Shelby counties, as well as portions of Franklin County.
