Delph Honored by Two Prominent Veterans' Groups
(STATEHOUSE)—Senator Mike Delph (R-Carmel) was recently presented with two prestigious awards from prominent Indiana veterans' groups for his continued dedication and support of their issues.
The American Legion awarded Delph with its Distinguished Public Service Award for 2006 in recognition of his hard work and support for veterans' issues. Delph also received the prestigious 2006 Indiana Legislator of the Year Award from the Disabled American Veterans.
“I am humbled and honored to receive these awards,” Delph said. “To be recognized by such important groups of people—all of whom are American heroes—makes me proud. I will always support veterans.”
Delph is a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve, a member of the American Legion, AMVETS and the Military Officers Association of America.
“Serving in our armed forces myself, I know and care for veterans,” Delph said. “It is so important that our country takes care of veterans and pays specific attention to their needs. They have done so much for us; we owe it to them to be especially aware of their needs.”
The Indiana American Legion gives their award annually to at least one state legislator who supports the group both inside and outside of the Legislature. The Disabled American Veterans select one legislator each year to honor and thank for their attention to caring for our veterans.
Delph represents portions of Hamilton and Marion counties.
