Alting Remembers Robert A. Zell
Alting passes Senate Concurrent Resolution, memorializing Tippecanoe resident

(STATEHOUSE) – Indiana State Senator Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 40, remembering Robert A. Zell and the hard work that he had done for the community.

“As a lifelong resident of Tippecanoe County, Rob was a dedicated man who worked hard for his family,” Alting said. “He may have only worked a few months for the Department of Transportation, but he enjoyed his job and taking care of his family and the county.”

The resolution was passed to remember and honor Zell as well as the many others that maintain Indiana’s roadways each day. Zell worked in the Fowler Sub District.

“Taking care of the roads that we travel is a dangerous job,” Alting said. “I want drivers to be aware of the workers’ situation and always drive carefully when passing these hard working men and women.”

On February 3, 2005, Zell was hit by a vehicle on the Wabash River Bridge on Interstate 65 in Tippecanoe County while cleaning debris on the side of the road.

Robert A. Zell was married for 11 years to his wife Kimberly and had four children; Brent, Robert II, Brittany Mathes, and Rachelle who were all present at the resolution.

Alting represents Senate District 22, which includes portions of Tippecanoe County.
