Lake Bruce Receives Dredging Grant for $87,000

(STATEHOUSE) Senator Tom Weatherwax (R-Logansport) announced today that the Lake Bruce Conservancy District has received a Lake and River Enhancement (LARE) grant for $87,000 from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to dredge a portion of Lake Bruce.

“This grant and project is vital to the long-term health of Lake Bruce and the use of the lake for recreational purposes,” Weatherwax said. “This project will improve the flow of water through the lake and ultimately improve water quality as well as sediment build up.”

Weatherwax has worked closely with Norm Steigely, Chairman of the Lake Bruce Conservancy District, for several months on this project and ensuring the money for Lake Bruce.

“The project seemed to be going nowhere until Senator Weatherwax came to the support of the district,” said Steigely. “The Senator has always been there to help keep this beautiful lake a viable and healthy resource for the people of the area to enjoy.”

State Senator Tom Weatherwax represents District 18, which includes Cass, Fulton and Miami counties as well as parts of Pulaski, Kosciusko and Wabash counties.
