Dillon Appointed to National Committee on Health
(STATEHOUSE) Senator Gary ‘Doc’ Dillon (R-Pierceton) was appointed vice-chairman of the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) National Standing Committee on Health. NCSL President Leticia Van de Putte announced the appointment.
“Senator Dillon brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to the table,” said Senator Van de Putte. “I look forward to his valuable contributions to state public policy over the next year.”
“I am pleased to be honored with this appointment,” said Dillon. “I appreciate that NCSL has recognized my background and given me this great opportunity.”
NCSL’s Health Committee is one of its 11 national standing committees, all of which are responsible for developing policies that guide NCSL’s activities on Capitol Hill and within the administration. The policies stress three themes: opposition to unfunded federal mandates, prevention of unnecessary preemption of state laws and protection of state revenue sources.
NCSL’s 2006 annual Meeting in Nashville concluded on August 18. There, legislators on this committee enacted several new policy resolutions, including Medicaid reform, principles for federal health insurance reforms and Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness. Dillon represents Huntington and Whitley counties as well as portions of Wabash, Allen, Grant, and Kosciusko counties.
