Garton Appoints Dillon to Pension Commission
(STATEHOUSE) — Senate President Pro Tempore Robert D. Garton announced today the appointment of Senator Gary “Doc” Dillon (R-Pierceton) to the Pension Management Oversight Commission.
“Senator Dillon has a keen analytical mind,” said Garton. “His service on the Senate Pensions and Labor Committee, as well as the Senate Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee, will lend valuable knowledge to the Commission.”
The Pension Management Oversight Commission was created to study the investment and management practices of the boards of the public retirement funds. Members determine what constitutes adequate wage replacement levels at retirements for public employees. The Commission must study the impact of federal law and proposals concerning pensions, annuities and retirement benefits, as well as methods and levels of funding for public retirement plans.
Dillon will be filling a vacancy left by Senator Joe Harrison (R-Attica), who resigned his position on the commission due to family obligations.
More information about the Pension Management Oversight Commission can be found online at www.in.gov/legislative/interim/committee/pmoc.html . The Commission will begin meeting for 2006 this summer.
