Meeks ‘okay’ after fall at ribbon cutting
Senator blames uneven sod, heat for stumble;
Lawmaker being checked-out at area hospital
(STATEHOUSE) – State Sen. Bob Meeks (R-LaGrange) is at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville being routinely checked out after a fall this morning during a ribbon cutting ceremony for the U.S. 6 improvement project.
His Statehouse office confirmed the fall, which Meeks attributed to “uneven sod and light-headedness due to heat and humidity.”
Meeks assured Gov. Mitch Daniels and others on-hand for the event that he was “okay” and that the fall was not related to any other medical difficulties.
The five-term lawmaker was hospitalized during the 2008 legislative session and has since suffered some medical setbacks, causing him on June 6 to remove his name from the ballot for the November election.
Meeks is the Senate Appropriations Committee chair and a member of both the State Tax and Fiscal Policy and Natural Resource committees.
Meeks’ Senate District 13 includes portions of DeKalb, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble and Steuben counties.
